Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Administrator to join our team within an accountancy practice on a full-time, office-based basis.
The successful candidate will possess advanced Excel skills, strong leadership capabilities, and exceptional customer service experience. This role is responsible for supporting departmental operations, managing a small administrative team, implementing and monitoring KPIs, and assisting with budget management and workflow efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical, detail-oriented, and confident in managing both people and processes within a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will work closely with and report directly to their line manager, providing regular updates on departmental performance, workflow management, KPI tracking, and budget-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administrative operations of the department to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage, support, and motivate a small administrative team, including delegation of tasks and performance monitoring.
- Develop, implement, and monitor departmental KPIs to improve operational performance and workflow efficiency.
- Assist in managing departmental budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and targets are met.
- Produce regular reports and performance data for senior management using advanced Excel functions and reporting tools.
- Analyse workflow processes and identify opportunities for improvement and cost efficiencies.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve escalated customer queries professionally and effectively.
- Ensure departmental compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of team members where required.
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to maintain smooth operational processes.
- Report directly to the line manager with regular updates regarding team performance, KPIs, budgets, workflow efficiency, and operational matters.
Skills & Experience Required Essential:
- Proven experience in a senior administrative or office management role.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a small team.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Experience implementing and monitoring KPIs and performance metrics.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional and confident approach to stakeholder management.
- Experience working with departmental budgets and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of workflow management and process improvement.

Interview Process
Candidates invited to interview will be required to complete an Excel competency assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Applicants may also be asked to provide examples of KPIs they have previously implemented, monitored, or managed within a department or team environment.
Pay: From £28,000.00 per year
