Hooked is a new independent café-bar in the heart of Kemp Town, Brighton.
We’ve recently opened with a fresh daytime brunch offering and are building something much bigger than a traditional café. Alongside great coffee and quality food, we’re creating a relaxed neighbourhood venue that brings people together through evening bar nights, guest chefs, pop-ups and events.
We’re still at the beginning of our journey, which makes this an exciting opportunity to join early, help shape how we work and grow with the business as it evolves.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced brunch chef who enjoys producing consistently great food in a busy but enjoyable environment.
Your focus will be delivering our daytime brunch menu to a high standard, working closely with the owners and front-of-house team to create a great experience for every customer.
The menu and food direction are already established, with opportunities to contribute ideas and refinements as the café settles and grows.
As the business develops, there will also be opportunities to get involved with evening events, guest chef nights and pop-ups for anyone who wants to broaden their role.
We’re building the sort of place we’d want to work ourselves.
- A growing independent business where your contribution genuinely matters.
- Daytime-focused hours with a healthy work-life balance.
- A friendly, supportive team that enjoys working together.
- Hands-on owners who care about quality and are invested in the business.
- Opportunities to get involved in exciting evening events, pop-ups and collaborations.
- A business that’s constantly evolving, where good ideas are welcomed.
- Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Deliver our established brunch menu with consistency and care.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards at all times.
- Manage prep, stock control and ordering efficiently.
- Work closely with front-of-house to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
- Support smooth, well-paced service during busy periods.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and positive kitchen environment.
About You
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience working as a chef in a quality café or restaurant.
- Strong brunch experience with confidence cooking eggs, breakfasts and daytime dishes.
- A minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Excellent organisation and time management.
- A positive attitude and a genuine team-first approach.

- A calm approach during busy services.
- Reliability, professionalism and a willingness to learn and develop.
