Plumber (Gas Safe Registered), Heritage Conversion Project, Bath
Fixed term contract, around 2 months. £200 to £250 per day depending on experience.
We are converting a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse in central Bath into five one bedroom flats. We need an experienced plumber to install the water, gas and heating infrastructure from the basement meter cupboard up to all five flats.
The work includes:
1. Water: connecting the incoming barrier pipe supply to the internal manifold in the basement meter cupboard, fitting the manifold, connecting the five water meters and running new cold feeds from the meters to every flat.
2. Gas: the full new gas installation from the meters, with gas feeds run to all five flats in accordance with BS 6891.
3. In each flat: gas combi boiler and central heating installation, with the hot and cold services to bathroom and kitchen. There are no gas hobs; kitchens are electric, so gas serves the boilers only.
4. All water pipework in copper. We are not using plastic pipe on this job.
The chases will already be cut for you by our stonemasons, so there is no major chasing to worry about. Your job is making sure all the infrastructure goes in properly, in copper with correct sleeving to avoid Bathstone corrosion . This is a Grade II listed building, so the routing is not straightforward and needs care; there is no cutting into historic fabric yourself, and we will walk the routes together at the site viewing.
You will be working alongside our electrician, stonemasons and carpenter on a local building site in central Bath, with parking on site. A typical day runs 8:00am to 4:30pm with a 30 minute break. You bring your own tools; we supply all materials.
Requirements: Gas Safe registered with domestic qualifications, experience in period or listed buildings preferred, comfortable working to an agreed schedule of works alongside other trades.
