Children’s Complex Care Support Worker (2:1 Package)

About the Role
Candy Care Group is seeking experienced and compassionate Children’s Complex Care Support Workers to join a dedicated 2:1 support package for a young person with highly complex health and behavioural needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life by providing person-centred support after school, at weekends, and eventually overnight.
The successful candidate will work closely with the child, family members, and multidisciplinary professionals to promote independence, safety, wellbeing, and engagement in enjoyable activities.
About the Young Person
The child has a complex medical history, including:
Acquired Brain Injury
Daily epilepsy and seizure activity
Tonic-clonic seizures
Absence seizures
Focal seizures
Seizure clusters which may last up to an hour
Hypoglycaemia
PEG feeding requirements
Constipation management
Episodes of sickness requiring medication administration
Communication difficulties supported through visual aids and technology
Behavioural presentations that may indicate seizure onset
The child is fully mobile and communicates using a combination of verbal communication and visual supports.
Following seizures, recovery periods can vary and require patient, skilled support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide safe, high-quality 2:1 support in the family home and community.
Support with all aspects of complex health needs and daily living activities.
Monitor and respond appropriately to seizure activity in accordance with care plans and clinical guidance.
Recognise behavioural changes that may indicate seizure onset.
Support PEG-fed routines where required.
Facilitate meaningful activities including:
Swimming
Baking
Games and play activities
Community outings
Promote communication using visual supports and assistive technology.
Maintain accurate records and incident reporting.
Work collaboratively with both parents across two family homes.
Support the child through transitions and changing family circumstances.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
A minimum of 1 year’s experience supporting children with complex care needs.
Experience supporting children or young people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
Previous experience supporting individuals with complex epilepsy and seizure management.
Experience working with behaviours of concern and positive behaviour support approaches.
Knowledge of PEG feeding or willingness to undertake specialist training.
A caring, patient, and child-focused approach.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
The ability to work as part of a professional multidisciplinary team.

Working Pattern
Term Time;Monday to Friday 14.30-21.00 & 21.00-09.00Saturday and Sunday 09.00-21.00 & 21.00-09.00
Night shifts 1 x wake night and 1 x sleep in
School Holidays 9am to 9pm all shifts
Pay Rate £19 per hour Inclusive of holiday pay
