The Role
As our Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Working closely with the wider finance team, you will help provide timely financial information, ensure compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our financial processes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process
- Prepare month-end and year-end journals, reconciliations, and reporting
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Provide support across all financial accounting activities as required
- Ensure financial compliance and accuracy
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Oversee purchase ledger including subcontractors, CIS and payroll processes
- Evaluating and monitoring financial information systems and recommending improvements where needed
- Support the implementation of new management software and automation initiatives.
- Mentoring and developing apprentices and junior team members
The Person

- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Professional, discreet, and able to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent IT skills, focussed on providing clearly written material for distribution to various internal stakeholders
The Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience using Sage 50 Accounts
- Minimum qualification of AAT Level 4
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and improve processes.
The Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am – 4:30pm
- 40 hours per week
- Office based role – no remote working
