The Cliff Hotel & Spa is looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team.
Working alongside ourHead Chef and Senior Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our busy main kitchen, helping to deliver consistently high standards across breakfast, lunch, dinner and events.
This is a fantastic progression opportunity for an experienced Senior Chef de Partie who is ready to step into their first Sous Chef role. With the support of an experienced Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef, you'll develop your leadership and management skills while playing a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy kitchen.
Our banqueting operation is led by a dedicated Head Banqueting Chef, however there will be times when you'll be required to support the banqueting kitchen during weddings, functions and busy periods, making this a varied and exciting role.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef with the day-to-day running of the main kitchen.
- Leading sections and ensuring smooth service during busy periods.
- Supervising, coaching and supporting junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
- Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness.
- Assisting with menu development, seasonal dishes and daily specials.
- Supporting stock control, ordering, food cost management and minimising waste.
- Ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures.
- Providing support within the banqueting kitchen when required for weddings and large events.
- Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef where appropriate.
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Senior Chef de Partie looking to take the next step.
- A positive attitude with excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Passion for producing high-quality food and working as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of food safety, stock control and kitchen operations.
- Calm under pressure with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to support both the main kitchen and banqueting operation when required.
