Experienced Phlebotomist / Healthcare Assistant
We are seeking an experienced, reliable and professional Phlebotomist or Healthcare Assistant to join a busy and growing private healthcare service.
The successful candidate must be confident carrying out venepuncture independently and committed to providing a safe, calm and professional experience for every patient.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out venepuncture safely, confidently and efficiently.
- Welcome patients and provide a professional and reassuring experience.
- Confirm patient identity and check the blood tests required.
- Accurately label, package and prepare blood samples for collection.
- Complete patient records accurately.
- Follow infection-prevention and control procedures.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness within the clinical environment.
- Prepare and clean the clinical room before and after appointments.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure equipment is stored correctly.
- Follow clinical-waste and health-and-safety procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support other clinical services where appropriately trained.
- Travel to other clinic locations when required.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of six months’ current or recent practical venepuncture experience.
- Confident and competent in carrying out venepuncture independently.
- Previous experience as a Phlebotomist, Healthcare Assistant, Nurse, Midwife or another relevant healthcare professional.
- Excellent patient-care and communication skills.
- Professional, punctual and well presented.
- Reliable and able to work without close supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate patient records.
- Good understanding of infection control and patient confidentiality.
- Availability to work some weekends.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within a private clinic, GP surgery, hospital or community healthcare setting.
- IV cannulation experience.
- Experience administering vitamin injections.
- Current Basic Life Support training.
- Current infection-control and safeguarding training.
Working Pattern
Applicants must be able to provide regular availability and demonstrate a reasonable degree of flexibility.
