With a focus on professionalism, customer service, and compliance, we are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts / Finance Assistant to support the smooth financial running of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rental Income & Landlord Payments
- Process and allocate incoming rent payments from tenants
- Reconcile rent received against tenancy records
- Prepare and issue monthly landlord statements
- Ensure prompt and accurate payments to landlords
- Chase and report on any rent arrears in coordination with property managers
- Commissions & Fees
- Calculate and record sales and letting commissions
- Ensure timely invoicing of agency fees to landlords and vendors
- Track and reconcile commission income
Office & Operational Accounts
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping of office accounts
- Reconcile bank transactions and prepare monthly reconciliations
- Handle accounts payable, including payment to suppliers and service providers
- Maintain accurate financial records for internal and external reporting
- Reporting & Compliance
- Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Assist with annual audits and compliance checks
- Ensure all financial procedures comply with industry regulations (e.g., Client Money Protection, Anti-Money Laundering)
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience in a similar finance or accounts role (real estate/lettings experience preferred)
- Knowledge of client accounting principles, especially relating to lettings
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, or specialist property software such as Alto, Reapit, or CFP)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of GDPR and financial compliance standards
Desirable:
- AAT or other accounting qualification (or working towards)
- Familiarity with property management systems
- Experience with processing client money and handling reconciliations
