Job Summary
The Lord Crewe Hotel in Bamburgh is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate chef to play a key role in a busy, well-established hotel kitchen in a stunning coastal location.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily operations, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained. Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including cooks and junior chefs, fostering a collaborative team environment
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are met
- Coordinate food production activities to meet service times and customer expectations
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and manage storage procedures effectively
- Support in menu planning, development, and implementation of new dishes
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety guidelines
- Serve as a role model for professionalism and culinary excellence within the team
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation techniques
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead by example
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
