The Genesis K9 Academy is looking for an experienced and passionate Dog Trainer to join our established team in Chester.
This is a hands-on role working with dogs staying with us for residential training programmes, covering both obedience and behaviour training. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality training while ensuring our clients receive excellent communication and customer service throughout their dog's stay.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Training dogs on residential obedience and behaviour programmes.
- Working with each dog according to their individual training needs and programme.
- Monitoring and recording the dog's progress throughout their stay.
- Providing regular progress updates to owners through dedicated WhatsApp groups.
- Communicating confidently and professionally with customers.
- Carrying out end-of-course handovers with owners, explaining the training completed and how they can continue the work at home.
- Feeding and caring for dogs staying at the academy.
- Cleaning and maintaining dog areas and facilities to a high standard.
- Working closely with the wider training team to ensure consistency in training.
- Maintaining high standards of dog welfare and professionalism at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone with previous practical experience in dog training who is confident working with a range of dogs.
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous hands-on dog training experience.
- Have a genuine passion for dogs and their welfare.
- Have good knowledge of obedience and behaviour training.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Be confident speaking with owners and explaining training clearly.
- Be hardworking, reliable and punctual.
- Have excellent timekeeping.
- Be able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Be willing to learn and develop their skills.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Be available to work 2 weekend days per month.

This is a self-employed position, working approximately 40 hours per week.
