Who we are seeking
Sunseeker International is recruiting a Dedicated Health and Safety Representative (DHSR) to join our production team at Shipyards, Poole.
As a DHSR, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, healthy and compliant working environment across the site. You will work closely with managers, team leaders and employees to promote a positive safety culture, ensuring that all Health and Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid procedures are understood and consistently applied.
A Day In Life
As a DHSR at Sunseeker, each day brings a balance of proactive site engagement and practical problem-solving. You begin by walking the production areas, ensuring safe working practices are maintained and addressing any issues immediately. Throughout the day, you work closely with managers and team leaders to review risk assessments, support investigations and promote a culture of safety and wellbeing.
You’ll lead by example, providing clear guidance, communicating effectively, and encouraging colleagues to take ownership of Health and Safety. Whether delivering briefings, maintaining accurate documentation or contributing to safety improvements, your focus remains on ensuring every employee finishes their day safely and confidently.
Example responsibilities include:
Act as the first point of contact for all Health and Safety matters within the production area.
Provide guidance and support to line managers and team leaders on safe systems of work and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits, ensuring timely completion and follow-up of corrective actions.
Support accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending preventative measures.
Promote employee awareness of Health and Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid through proactive engagement and communication.
Assist in maintaining up-to-date safety documentation and reports for management review.
Collaborate with the central Health and Safety team to share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
To be considered for this role you should:
Display a proactive and confident communicator with a passion for maintaining high safety standards.
Have previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment (marine or engineering experience advantageous).
Possess knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices.
Be qualified in, or willing to train in, Fire Safety, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail with the ability to influence and engage others.
