About the Role
JNR Contracting Limited is looking for an experienced Roofer to join our established roofing team.
This position is specifically focused on domestic residential roofing. The successful applicant will work on houses and other domestic properties carrying out a mixture of responsive roof repairs and complete reroofing works.
This is not a commercial or industrial roofing position. We are specifically looking for someone with experience working on domestic pitched and residential roofing.
You will work as part of a team, representing JNR Contracting while working at customers' homes and properties managed on behalf of our clients.
Main Duties
The role will include:
- Carrying out responsive and planned domestic roof repairs
- Completing full and partial domestic reroofs
- Stripping existing roof coverings and preparing roofs for renewal
- Installing and replacing concrete and clay roof tiles
- Installing and replacing natural and artificial slates
- Installing roofing membranes, felt and battens
- Ridge, hip and verge repairs and replacement
- Leadwork, including flashings and associated repairs
- Chimney and roof junction repairs
- Identifying and diagnosing sources of roof leaks
- Completing emergency and temporary repairs where appropriate
- Replacing damaged or missing tiles and slates
- Carrying out associated fascia, soffit and rainwater goods works where required
- Working safely from ladders, scaffold and other appropriate access equipment
- Keeping work areas clean, safe and tidy
- Taking photographs and recording works completed where required
- Working alongside other members of the JNR roofing team to complete jobs efficiently and to a high standard
Domestic Roofing Experience
Applicants must have practical experience in domestic/residential roofing.
Experience predominantly within commercial or industrial roofing is not what we are looking for for this particular position.
We are particularly interested in roofers who are comfortable working on occupied and void domestic properties and understand the additional care required when working around residents and their homes.

Working as Part of a Team
Our roofing work is team-based. We are looking for someone who can work well alongside other roofers, labourers, supervisors and JNR management.
You will be expected to contribute to the job rather than simply complete your own individual tasks. This includes helping the team maintain safe working areas, organising materials, solving problems on site and ensuring work is completed properly before leaving a property.
A positive attitude and willingness to work together are just as important to us as technical ability.
Customer Service
As the majority of our work takes place at people's homes, good customer service is an important part of the role.
You will be expected to:
- Be polite and professional with residents
- Respect customers' homes and belongings
- Keep disruption to a reasonable minimum
- Maintain a tidy working environment
- Communicate any issues through the appropriate JNR supervisor or manager
- Represent JNR Contracting professionally while on site
Health & Safety
All roofing work must be completed in accordance with JNR Contracting's health and safety procedures, RAMS and site-specific requirements.
Employees are expected to use the correct PPE and access equipment, report hazards and defects, and never undertake work where suitable safety measures are not in place.
Essential Requirements
- Previous domestic roofing experience
- Experience with pitched tiled and/or slated roofs
- Experience carrying out roof repairs
- Ability to work at height
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good standard of workmanship
- Professional attitude when working at customers' homes
- Full, valid UK driving licence – essential
Due to the nature of the role and the requirement to travel between properties and jobs, applicants without a full UK driving licence will not be considered for this position.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would also be beneficial:
- Full domestic reroofing
- Leadwork
- Chimney repairs
- Flat roof repairs
- Fascias, soffits and guttering
- Responsive maintenance
- Social housing or housing association properties
- Working in occupied properties

Pay: £123.08-£163.07 per day
