About The Role
As a Head of Provision (HOP) for our flagship provision 'The Forge', you will lead and quality assure one of Nulogic’s most important educational provisions, ensuring high standards across safeguarding, behaviour, educational implementation, stakeholder relationships, and day-to-day operations.
This is a senior role requiring strong educational expertise, operational oversight, and the ability to lead with consistency, accountability, and professionalism while embedding Nulogic’s core values of Real Relationships, Resilience, Relatability, and Respect throughout the provision.
You will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for your provision and will be responsible for ensuring learners receive a safe, structured, and outcomes-focused educational experience.
Working closely with the Director of Education, you will ensure curriculum delivery is implemented effectively within your provision, staff are supported and held accountable, and the culture of the site always reflects Nulogic’s expectations.
This role requires a qualified educational professional who can combine strategic leadership with strong day-to-day operational management.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Provision Management
1. Lead the day-to-day operations of the provision, ensuring a safe, structured, and purposeful learning environment.
2. Line manage teachers, Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs), supporting their development while maintaining clear accountability and high professional standards.
3. Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the provision, modelling professionalism, consistency, and high expectations.
4. Lead internal staff briefings, operational meetings, and provision-based development activities where required.
5. Respond proactively to staffing challenges, including staff absence, by coordinating appropriate cover arrangements and adapting provision delivery where required to maintain safe and effective operations.
6. Ensure all reporting requirements are completed accurately, professionally, and within required deadlines.
7. Manage provision expenditure within allocated budgets, including oversight of Pleo spending, receipts, and invoices.
8. Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the effective running of the provision and wider organisation.
Educational Standards & Learner Outcomes
9. Oversee the operational timetable for the provision, ensuring staffing, learner needs, interventions, and curriculum delivery are coordinated effectively.
10. Maintain high expectations around learner engagement, behaviour, attendance, educational standards, and outcomes.
11. Monitor learner progress, attendance, reintegration pathways, and destination outcomes, intervening where concerns arise.
12. Support the implementation of timetables, interventions, assessment systems, and qualification delivery alongside the Director of Education and teaching staff.
13. Conduct learning walks, lesson observations, and quality assurance activities to maintain high educational standards across the provision.
14. Promote a culture of aspiration, achievement, and personal development for all learners.
15. Deliver teaching sessions where required as part of the provision model, maintaining high standards of classroom practice and learner engagement. Teaching responsibilities may vary depending on the needs and structure of the provision.
Safeguarding, Behaviour & Compliance
16. Complete Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training every two years and maintain safeguarding knowledge in line with statutory guidance and organisational expectations.
17. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the provision, overseeing safeguarding systems, referrals, and safeguarding culture.
18. Lead on behaviour management, restorative practice, suspensions, reintegration meetings, and learner support strategies where required.
19. Ensure full compliance with all relevant safeguarding, health & safety, SEND, attendance, behaviour, equality, and data protection training and procedures.
20. Ensure the provision always remains secure, including site security during operational hours and end-of-day checks where appropriate.
21. Treat all personal, private, and sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Quality Assurance & Provision Development
22. Lead on provision-level quality assurance, ensuring high standards across learner experience, stakeholder satisfaction, behaviour, attendance, and educational delivery.
23. Gather and respond to feedback from learners, staff, schools, parents/carers, and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
24. Work alongside the Director of Education to ensure readiness for external QA visits, audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
25. Support the continued development and reputation of the provision by maintaining high standards of professionalism, presentation, and operational consistency.
Stakeholder Engagement & External Relationships
26. Act as the lead point of contact for schools, local authorities, parents/carers, and external agencies linked to the provision.
27. Build and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaborative working.
28. Attend and contribute to professional meetings on behalf of Nulogic, including reviews, consultations, strategy meetings, and multi-agency discussions with schools, local authorities, parents/carers, and external professionals.
29. Attend placement consultations, site visits, reintegration meetings, and multi-agency reviews where required.
30. Contribute positively to the wider reputation and growth of Nulogic by always representing the organisation professionally.

Essential/Desirable Experience
Essential
- QTS or Level 5 teaching equivalent qualification
- Leadership experience within an educational setting
- Experience working with young people with behavioural, emotional, SEND, or additional learning needs
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience acting within safeguarding processes
- Experience managing staff performance, accountability, and professional development
- Excellent organisational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong understanding of educational standards, behaviour systems, and learner outcomes
- Experience working with KS4 and Post-16 learners
- Experience using Microsoft Office based systems
Desirable
- Previous experience working within Alternative Provision, SEMH, or specialist education settings
- DSL qualification or advanced safeguarding training
- Experience supporting quality assurance or inspection readiness processes
- Experience leading reintegration or intervention pathways
- SEND-related qualifications or training
- Experience working collaboratively with local authorities and multi-agency teams
