Brewer Position
40 Hours per week
Monday - Friday
Salary: £30,400+ Per Annum
We are looking for a new Brewer to join the Verdant Team! On a daily shift pattern basis, this person will be responsible for all aspects of brewing and cellaring, from wort production through to fermentation management, cold side processes and transfers to brite tanks. Secondary responsibilities will also include supporting the pack team when required. This role requires someone who is practically minded, has great technical knowledge, prides themself on attention to detail and displays excellent interpersonal skills.
Verdant has been making a name for itself by producing hoppy, hazy beers in Cornwall since 2014. Our ethos revolves around brewing the flavour-packed beers we love to drink, and ensuring that beer lovers have access to delicious, quality-driven releases week after week. Key Responsibilities:
- Wort production on a 4 vessel German style brewhouse
- Brewhouse CIP via an integrated brewhouse system
- Malt handling and milling via a combination of silos and sacked grain - ability to lift 25kg essential
- Tank, pipework and centrifuge cleaning via dedicated CIP set
- Alfa Laval Brew 250 centrifuge operation
- Yeast management (harvest, viability, pitching etc)
- Fermentation management across styles
- Dry hopping
- Gravity & pH checks
- Use of BREWW software for inventory and data input
- Sensory analysis
- Accurate spreadsheet data entry and record keeping
- General maintenance and equipment upkeep
- High level of housekeeping and cleanliness
- Willingness to lend a hand in other departments when necessary
- Occasional attendance at beer festivals/collaborations/events on behalf of Verdant
Desirable Experience:
- Previous commercial brewing experience
- Experience working as part of a production team
- Excellent communication skills across teams and with management
- Mechanically minded with a practical approach to problem solving
- Good IT skills
- Remains calm under pressure
- Enjoys shift work
- Strong work ethic and a definite team player
- Willingness to ‘muck in’ with tasks outside key responsibilities
- Valid forklift license would be an advantage, but not essential
