Band Tutor (After School Sessions) – Pulborough
We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and motivated music tutor to lead after-school band sessions for students aged 8–18. This is a practical, hands-on role where you will run rehearsals, develop musicianship, and prepare students for live performance. Immediate start required
Pay: £30 per hour
Role Details
- Location: Pulborough (In-person)
- Sessions available: Tuesday, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare 2–3 songs per term appropriate to the group’s level.
- Teach and demonstrate instrumental and vocal parts (vocals, guitar, keys, bass, drums).
- Lead sessions as both tutor and musical director.
- Develop students’ ensemble and live performance skills.
- Create simple roadmap charts for rehearsals.
- Adapt arrangements for non-core instruments where required.
Requirements
- Experience working with young people aged 8–18.
- Comfortable working in an independent school environment.
- Ideally a BA (Hons) in Music or equivalent qualification.
- Strong performance and teaching ability.
- Confident working independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Multi-instrumental ability preferred.
Mandatory
- Enhanced DBS certificate (must already be in place).
- Ability to commit reliably to scheduled sessions.
Additional Information
- Specialist support is available for drums and vocals if required.
- Full training in The Band Project teaching approach will be provided.
