Chocolate Production Assistant (Part-Time)
About Us
Bullion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory based in Kelham Island, Sheffield. We craft chocolate using just cocoa beans and cane sugar, building long-term relationships with the growers we source from. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Production Assistant to support our small, dedicated team.
Schedule
- 2 days per week: Monday and Thursday
- Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Some flexibility or extra shifts may be available depending on business needs
About the Role
This is a hands-on, physically active role within our production team. A typical day involves sorting and roasting cocoa beans, operating machinery, packing products, and supporting the overall flow of the factory.
You’ll be on your feet for most of the shift, carrying out repetitive tasks and working closely with machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all stages of chocolate production (sorting, roasting, grinding, packaging)
- Safely load and unload machinery, including chocolate grinders
- Handling machinery such as breaker and winnowers, ovens etc.
- Maintain high standards of quality and presentation in packaging
- Clean and maintain production areas and equipment
- Work efficiently and proactively support the team when tasks are complete
- Follow strict food safety and machinery safety procedures at all times
Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently
- Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods
- Able to carry out repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, responsible, and proactive
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Physical Requirements
- This is a physically demanding role
- Regular lifting and moving of equipment is required
- Desirable: Ability to assist with heavy lifting (up to 70kg sacks) as part of safe, team-based manual handling
Desirable Experience
- Previous kitchen, bakery, or food production experience
