Overview
We are seeking a skilled Plant Fitter to join our team, specialising in the maintenance, repair of light construction equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience in welding, and troubleshooting plant machinery. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse range of equipment including excavators and forklifts, ensuring optimal operational efficiency on-site. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining high safety standards while delivering exceptional customer service and technical expertise. Van can be provided if required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on construction plant machinery such as excavators, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
- Interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to diagnose faults accurately
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for repairs and maintenance tasks
- Perform equipment repair work including mechanical adjustments and electrical troubleshooting
- Carry out heavy lifting safely to handle components or machinery parts
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards
- Assist in the installation of new equipment or modifications as required
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns professionally and efficiently
Experience
- Proven experience in welding, soldering, and interpreting schematics
- Strong electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge of construction machinery
- Familiarity with operating hand tools, power tools, and specialised maintenance equipment
- Experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a construction environment
- Previous background in equipment repair or plant maintenance is essential
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to construction site operations is required
