Customs Clerk

Arcese UK is looking for an organised and proactive Customs Clerk to Join our Customs team in Thurrock.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an international logistics business where you’ll play a vital role in ensuring goods move efficiently across international boarders while maintaing the highest standards of customs compliance.
Working closely with the customs Manager, you’ll support customers and operational teams by delivering accurate customs declarations, resolving customs queries and helping to ensure the smooth movement of freight.

What You'll Be Doing
As Customs Clerk, you’ll play an important role in supporting our customs operation and ensuring shipments move efficiently and compliantly.
Managing customs Activities
· Preparing import and export customs declarations
· Ensuring customs documentation is accurate and compliant
· Monitoring customs entries and resolving discrepancies
· Supporting customs compliance activities and audits
Supporting Customers
· Responding to customs enquires from customers and internal departments
· Liaising with HMRC, Boarder Force and external agencies
· Providing updates and resolving customs related issues
Supporting Operational Excellence
· Working closely with operational teams to ensure freight moves smoothly
· Identifying opportunities to improve customs processes
· Maintaining accurate records and documentation
· Contributing to continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
You'll be organised, accurate and committed to delivering an excellent service.
Essential Experience
✔ Previous experience in a Customs Clerk or Customs administration role
✔ Good understanding of UK customs procedures and regulations
✔ Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
✔ Excellent communication skills
✔ Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
✔ Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
We'd Love to See
· Experience within logistics or freight forwarding.
· Knowledge of CDS or other customs declaration systems.
· Experience working with HMRC or Border Force.
· A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
