Community Facilities Support Officer (Part-Time) - Up to 25hrs per week
Location: Community Hall and The Manor House
Hours: Approximately 3/4 hours per day Monday – Friday, plus flexible working for Evenings and Weekends, depending on bookings
Reports to: Health Safety & Facilities Manager
Role Purpose
To ensure the community facilities are safe, secure and well presented for all users. This “caretaker” role will be responsible for routine maintenance, opening and closing the premises, and supporting hall users where required.
Key Responsibilities
Building Opening and Closing
- Open and secure the community hall as required for bookings and events.
- Carry out checks to ensure the premises are safe and ready for use.
- Ensure doors, windows and gates are secured when closing the building.
Cleaning and Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and tidy environment throughout the hall.
- Sweep, vacuum and mop floors as necessary.
- Clean kitchen, toilets and communal areas.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies when required.
Maintenance
- Carry out basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs where appropriate.
- Monitor the condition of the building and grounds.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, hazards or security concerns promptly.
- Liaise with contractors when instructed.
Health and Safety
- Ensure the hall remains safe for all users.
- Conduct regular visual inspections of the premises.
- Report accidents, incidents and hazards in accordance with procedures.
- Follow all health and safety policies and safeguarding requirements.
Customer Service
- Provide a friendly and helpful point of contact for hall users.
- Assist with room set-up and furniture arrangements when required.
- Respond to enquiries from hall users and refer matters to the management committee where necessary.
Additional Information
- The role may require some flexibility to accommodate hall bookings and community events.
- To assist with Town Council evening and weekend Events, incluidng Christmas Festival, Town Crier Competition, Civic Awards etc
- Training will be provided where necessary.
- A satisfactory DBS check will be required depending on hall activities and user groups.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and move furniture, equipment, or supplies as needed.
· Ability to stand, walk, or be on your feet for extended periods during room setups or events.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Officer or Health, Safety and Facilities Manager , may be added to the scope of this role, provided they are reasonably related to the services provided by the council.

Essential
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Good practical and maintenance skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to undertake cleaning and light physical work.
Desirable
- Previous caretaking, facilities, cleaning or maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of community buildings or village halls.
- Basic DIY skills.
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
Full-time rate £27,274 per year, SCP 7
Pay: Up to £27,274.00 per year
