About the role
TLC Home Group is looking for an experienced Plasterboard Tacker to join our team, working on our flat conversion project in Newmarket and Saffron Walden. You'll be responsible for fixing plasterboard to walls and ceilings ahead of finishing trades, helping keep the site moving at pace on a busy residential conversion.
This role suits someone who takes pride in a clean, accurate fix and can work efficiently across multiple units on a live site.
Key responsibilities
- Measuring, cutting, and fixing plasterboard to stud walls, ceilings, and dot-and-dab surfaces
- Installing insulation and vapour control layers where required prior to boarding
- Working accurately to plans, ensuring correct board type is used for each application (standard, moisture-resistant, fire-rated, acoustic, etc.)
- Fitting around door frames, window reveals, sockets, and services
- Ensuring joints, angles, and finishes are set up correctly for the plastering/skimming trades to follow
- Maintaining a tidy, safe working area and disposing of waste in line with site procedures
- Liaising with site managers and other trades to keep work progressing to schedule across multiple flats/units
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a plasterboard tacker/dryliner, ideally on residential or conversion projects
- Strong understanding of different board types and where each is required (fire, sound, moisture-resistant)
- Ability to work quickly and accurately, both independently and as part of a team
- Own hand tools; access to own transport preferred
- CSCS card required
- Good attention to detail and awareness of finish quality, since it directly affects the plastering trades behind you
