About the Role
As a PMLD Complex Support Practitioner at Derwen College, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex physical, sensory, and communication needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care, education, and support, enabling students to achieve their full potential and live fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored, person-centred support to students with PMLD
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical needs (including PEG feeding where required)
- Support communication using a range of methods (e.g., Makaton, sensory cues, assistive technology)
- Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all aspects of daily life
- Work collaboratively with therapists, educators, and families
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care and support plans
About You
- Experience working with individuals with PMLD or complex needs (preferred but not essential)
- A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to undertake training and development
- A positive attitude and commitment to inclusion
