We are a leading supplier of specialist labelling systems, primarily for the pharmaceutical industry. We are looking for a Controls and Assembly Technician to join our engineering team. This position involves national and international travel.
Principal accountabilities:
· Completing PLC programming and testing of finished machine assemblies using Siemens TIA software.
· Assisting with the mechanical and electrical assembly of machines at our Hatfield facility.
· Assisting with set-up, testing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of machines at Newman's facility prior to shipment.
· Ensuring that systems are installed and commissioned to the Company's specification and to the Customer's satisfaction.
· Completing Installation and Operational Qualification documentation with Customer’s representative.
· Carrying out fault finding and resolution of faults including wiring. electrical, mechanical and PLC software.
· Attending Customer’s sites to resolve issues, sometimes at short notice.
· Carrying out customer training.
· Providing telephone, email, and online video support.
· Ensuring that customer enquiries are dealt with speedily and to the Customer's satisfaction.
· Liaising effectively with the Company's Sales, Spares/Service and Operations teams to share information and updates.
· Start up and attend Trade Exhibitions, as required.
· Maintaining a high level of equipment hardware and software knowledge.
Essential Requirements:
· A good ‘hands on’ working knowledge of PLC/HMI programming.
· Excellent fault-finding skills (mechanical, electrical, and PLC software).
· Knowledge and experience of automated machinery. including pneumatic systems, sensors, safety components, conveyor systems, and control software.
· Knowledge of machinery safety standards and regulations.
· Experience of machine assembly and installation
Desirable Requirements:
· Knowledge and experience of working in the healthcare/pharmaceutical market.
· Practical experience of Labelling Machines, Label Printers and Vision Systems.
· Knowledge of variable frequency and stepper drive systems.
· Working knowledge of industrial network communication protocols (such as Profibus & Profinet) and network communication protocols and remote control (such as VPN)
· Knowledge of foreign language(s)

Pay: £35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
