Responsibilities
- Perform alterations on a variety of garments including suits, dresses, trousers, and outerwear with precision and efficiency
- Measure clients accurately to determine necessary adjustments and ensure optimal fit
- Use sewing machines, sergers, and hand-stitching techniques to modify garments according to specifications
- Inspect finished products for quality control, ensuring all alterations meet high standards of craftsmanship
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide expert advice on alterations
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times
- Keep detailed records of each alteration order, including measurements, adjustments made, and completion status
Skills
- Proven experience as an alteration tailor or machinist with a strong portfolio of completed projects
- Excellent knowledge of sewing techniques, garment construction, and fabric properties
- Ability to read and interpret clothing patterns and alteration instructions accurately
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for precision and quality control
- Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients and team members
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship
- Familiarity with various sewing machines, tools, and equipment used in garment alteration
