Newlands Care Home is a small, family-run care home in Dunfermline, providing residential care for 22 older people. As a family-run home, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, friendly environment where residents feel at home and every member of staff plays an important part in making that happen.
We are looking for a Weekend Domestic Assistant to join our team. As one of only two Domestic Assistants within the home, you'll take real ownership of your work and play a vital role in ensuring our residents enjoy a clean, safe and welcoming environment every day.
Our residents deserve to live in surroundings that are clean, comfortable and homely, and we're looking for someone who shares our high standards.
Hours of Work
- Saturday: 8:00am – 2:30pm
- Sunday: 8:00am – 2:30pm (we can be slightly flexible with the Sunday start time to accommodate public transport)
- One additional weekday: 8:00am – 2:30pm (day to be agreed at interview)
This is a permanent 18 hour contract.
About the Role
Your main responsibility will be cleaning residents' bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas to an exceptionally high standard, following infection prevention procedures and cleaning schedules.
As one of only two Domestic Assistants, you'll work independently for much of your shift and will be trusted to manage your workload whilst maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout the home.
We are looking for someone who gets genuine satisfaction from seeing a room perfectly clean and who notices the little details that others often miss. You'll take pride in your work and understand the difference a clean, fresh bedroom makes to a resident's dignity, comfort and wellbeing.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual and dependable with an excellent work ethic
- Physically fit, as this is an active role involving walking, bending, lifting and working at pace throughout the day
- Efficient and well organised, with excellent time management skills
- Someone with exceptional attention to detail and consistently high standards of cleaning
- Proud of the quality of their work and motivated to do every job properly
- Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with elderly residents
- Respectful of residents' privacy and dignity when working in their personal space
- Able to work independently whilst also supporting colleagues when required
Previous professional cleaning experience is essential.
Experience working in a care home or with people living with dementia would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
