Nitron are now seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Manager for our modern suspension production facility in Witney, Oxfordshire. This position takes overall control and responsibility of the entire Engineering Manufacturing production process from order processing to product dispatch.
Nitron design and manufacture high performance car and motorcycle shock-absorbers and deliver them all around the globe. With main manufacturing and assembly in the UK we also have smaller assembly operations just outside Tokyo and Los Angeles.
The role will require oversight of the entire production operation, starting with the way sales orders are loaded, how the production teams deal with these orders, parts supply / stock control (with some in-house CNC manufacturing for initial prototypes and small batch production). The assembly process, testing and quality control, as well as packing and dispatch all fall under this roles' responsibilities.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the position has a significant amount of authority inside the facility and the ideal person will be expected to spend an amount of time understanding how things are done presently and then present a plan for improvements to the production process, followed by an agreed action plan.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with smaller scale manufacturing operations as an understanding of the challengers smaller operations face will be fundamental to the success of this position.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a warehousing / logistics operations position and we are not seeking someone with this experience. This is an Engineering and Manufacturing position, and the suitable candidate will demonstrate relevant experience in this field.
The position is full-time, in-house at Nitron’s new, clean and bright purpose-built production facility in Witney, Oxfordshire and due to the nature of the position it is not a remote working position.
Key duties are:
- Oversight of the entire Engineering manufacturing production process (reporting to the Managing Director)
- Introduction of new systems to improve reporting and visibility of the production process
- Introduction of improved purchasing / stock control functions to reduce overall stock and carry stock in the correct global locations (UK, Japan and USA)
- Balancing workflow and human resources in the production process to drive efficiency
- Improving the internal manufacturing information systems to aid efficient production
This is a hands-on leadership role with overall responsibility for leading and developing the production team. You will manage team leaders, drive performance, promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and ensure production, quality and delivery targets are consistently achieved. Strong people management skills are essential to the success of this role.
Nitron are offering a competitive salary of between £60 - £70,000 p.a. depending on experience.
