Experienced Bricklayer – Permanent PAYE Position
Emerton Roofing (Western) Limited is a fourth-generation family roofing business based in Nantwich, Cheshire. Established over 100 years ago, we are nationally recognised for the quality of our work and have built our reputation by carrying out some of the country's finest roofing and heritage restoration projects.
We are looking to welcome the next member of our long-established team – an experienced Bricklayer who takes genuine pride in producing high-quality workmanship and is looking for a long-term career with a respected family business.
This is a permanent, full-time PAYE position offering a 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with Saturday overtime available at company discretion. We offer 29 days' paid holiday (including Bank Holidays), together with competitive pay based on experience and ability.
Why join Emerton Roofing?
Many of our workforce have been with us for years, and some for decades. In fact, more than a dozen members of our team have over 10+ years' service, with around half of those having worked with us for more than 25 years. We believe that's because we provide steady work, treat people fairly and create an environment where skilled craftsmen can enjoy their trade.
Our team are able to concentrate on their work. We organise the quotations, customer liaison, materials, transport and scheduling, allowing our craftsmen to focus on producing first-class work before finishing at a sensible time each day.
Our work is varied and rewarding. We do not carry out repetitive new-build site work. Instead, you'll be working on residential renovations, period properties, estate maintenance and heritage buildings, often in attractive rural locations throughout Cheshire and the surrounding counties. Every project is different and offers the opportunity to produce work to a standard you can be proud of.
About the role
We're looking for an experienced bricklayer who enjoys repair, restoration and traditional masonry work. As a traditional roofing company, the focus of our work is not building houses or extensions. Instead this role relates more to more contained brickwork projects that relate to our roofing activities.
The role will include a variety of tasks, including but not restricted to:
- Rebuilding and repairing chimney stacks
- Chimney repointing
- Rebuilding and repairing sections of brick and stone walls
- Repointing masonry using appropriate traditional and modern mortars
- Repairing damaged or spalled brickwork
- Re-bedding coping stones and other masonry features
- Carrying out roofing-related mortar work, including verges, ridges and associated details
As part of a close-knit team, there will also be occasions where you'll assist with general building activities or support our roofing teams. Experience in roofing, joinery or other building trades would therefore be an advantage, although it is not essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
The successful applicant will start and finish each working day from our Nantwich depot, where a company works van (not for private use), materials and any assistance required for the day's project will be provided. A full UK driving licence is preferred but is not essential.
Above all, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, is dependable, works well with others and wants to become part of a company for the long term. We value good character just as highly as technical ability.
If you're looking for secure, permanent employment with a respected family business where quality workmanship is genuinely valued, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
