Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled General Maintenance professional to join our team at Albany Care Home In Leyton, E10. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
Ø General repairs and maintenance: performing routine maintenance tasks including fixing broken fixtures, repairing appliances, handling minor plumbing and electrical work
Ø Checking of water temperatures of sinks, showers and baths
Ø Fitting shelves, hanging pictures and installing window locks
Ø Decorating bedrooms/shared areas/corridors such as painting/wallpapering etc
Ø Completing various fire and health and safety checks throughout the home
Ø Purchase and collection of consumables and the control of the maintenance stock
Ø Ensuring that all tools and equipment used are stored in a safe place for the protection and safety of residents and staff & ensure that the storage of all cleaning and dangerous materials conform to the Home’s COSHH policy
Ø Maintaining gardens and general upkeep of the building
Ø Liaising with trade and contractors working in the home
Ø Checking quotes and invoices
Ø Report to the Home Manager if a particular job falls outside the Training/Skill of the post holder
Ø Undertake any other duties or training consistent with the role
Skills
> Prior experience working in a similar role in a care/nursing home would be ideal
> Relevant Health and Safety qualifications would be desirable
>Good Health and Safety awareness
> Basic electrical and plumbing skills required
> Must be willing to work outside of working hours to suit the needs of the home and in emergency situations
>Proficient in English, both written and verbal, for effective communication.
