Job Description
Senior Pursuit Manager
Flexible location – any Ramboll UK&I office
Do you want to contribute to shaping our services within the UK&I?
Ramboll is looking for a Senior Pursuit Manager to build on our recent success in the UK & Irish markets.
Our ambition is to be The Partner for Sustainable Change, and we are committed to creating innovative solutions that will contribute to accelerating the ongoing sustainable transition. Working for Ramboll means working for a company that strives to make a difference – for our employees, clients and society. Combining local presence with global reach, we offer you a strong platform for continuous professional growth. The successful applicant for this role will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to our strategy to close the gap to a sustainable future.
As demand accelerates in the Engineering Services sector, we are seeking an experienced Senior Pursuit Manager to drive strategic growth across our UK&I service offering.
Key Aspects of the Role
Our central Market Pursuits Team covers Buildings, Energy, Environment & Health and Transport Business Areas. You will lead and manage our most strategic pursuits/bids, working with the Market Pursuits Directors, Key Account/Client Managers and Business Area Owners from positioning through to submission. You will have oversight and own the ‘win plan’, organise and bring together pursuit teams and lead PQQ/Tender stages. You will provide challenge and rigour on strategic pursuits/bids and to the process, implementing a best practice approach that is shared across UK&I.
In addition to working on the UK&I’s most strategic pursuits/bids, the Market Pursuit Team has built and maintains a centre of excellence that provides the ‘go to’ place for all our best material. You will both draw on and contribute to this as part of your role, ensuring the business has access to the best information to bid, even if the team cannot support directly. You will play a critical role in supporting Ramboll’s growth ambitions and successfully delivering our ongoing strategy to be ‘The Partner for Sustainable Change’.
Your key responsibilities will be:
-
Drive the process from positioning through to interview on our largest pursuits
-
Accountable for delivery of all MPT tasks to ensure compliant and effective delivery, managing the MPT Manager/Coordinator and relationships with the Bid Owner, technical teams, stakeholders and partners/suppliers
-
Provide insight and challenge during Go/No-Go, raising concerns which may impact our chances of winning. Support the wider Governance process, including development of supporting material for decision gates
-
Work with the Bid Owner to determine our differentiation and develop our Win Plan including value proposition, partnering strategy and competitor analysis
-
Partner with the relevant Business Area Director/Key Account Manager through all pursuit/bid phases. Communicate when the process is failing/where a win would be in jeopardy
-
Quality Lead, to ensure the submission is coherent, demonstrates differentiators and meets our standards. Act as the challenger or healthy sceptic and undertake independent review and writing/editing, as required
-
Act as a ‘dummy panel’ for interview practice, to challenge and help develop presentation material
-
Mentor and support junior personnel, helping develop capability and confidence
-
Capture and share lessons learned, to improve performance and strengthen organisational knowledge
-
Drive continuous improvement across processes, tools and ways of working, including sharing best practice, content libraries and templates
About You
We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong track record of managing complex bids in the public and private sectors.
You will ideally have:
-
Proven experience in pursuit/bid management in similar business sectors/industry, with evidence of leading significant/strategic pursuits/bids within the UK and/or overseas
-
Understanding and experience of applying best practice pursuit/bid process (e.g. Shipley) and of sharing best practice with others
-
Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to ‘bring people along’
-
Ability to build internal and external relationships effectively, across sector and hierarchy
-
Significant pursuit/bid planning management and development experience
-
Writing skills and know ‘what good looks like’
-
An understanding of delivering projects for clients – either from firsthand experience, or through working closely with project teams on pursuit activities
-
Ability to multi-task, delegate and work well under pressure
-
Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include enjoying being part of a team but equally being comfortable working ‘remotely’. Responsive and flexible, and able to use own initiative to get things done.
