Job Summary
To lead an innovative, co-created project that utilises the power of volunteering to tackle deep-rooted health inequalities, mental health challenges, unemployment, and social isolation.
This is a key role that will focus on making everyone feel valued whilst establishing robust links with local organisations to unlock training and placement pathways.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To carry out administrative duties as necessary e.g. maintain accurate attendance registers & session data, monitor individuals’ progress / achievements and produce reports that meet the needs of the charity and funding providers.
- To recruit people from our communities onto the programme. This will include promotion, managing applications and where appropriate carrying out DBS checks
- To build and develop relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders to support the recruitment, training and opportunities to volunteer.
- Design and deliver informal non-accredited training session to prepare volunteers for activity.
- Provide continuous mentorship, constructive feedback and empowering strategies to build trust and self-assurance in participants.
- Set up, co-ordinate and host inclusive, warm and welcoming weekly sessions that help to improve health and wellbeing, build confidence and self-esteem and provide upskilling opportunities.
- To represent the charity by being a positive role model, successfully engaging with participants, clients and stakeholders.
- To ensure that participants are motivated and retained in the project through high quality service delivery and relationships
- To ensure that all activities are delivered within a safe, controlled environment.
- To deliver sessions in line with best practice guidelines in health/safety and safeguarding.
- To be aware of and comply with all relevant policies and procedures provided by the charity.
- To ensure all equipment associated with the coaching programme is correctly set up, maintained and transported correctly.
- To be committed to CPD and attend training course seminars and meetings as required.
- To take an active role in any other duties commensurate with the post that are required to deliver the outcomes of the charity
Person Specifications
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Professional qualification or equivalent experience in community development, social work, youth work
Safeguarding training
Enhanced DBS
Full UK Driving licence
Proven ability to design and deliver informal, non-accredited training or adult life-skills workshops.
Robust understanding of community health inequalities, local deprivation metrics, and safeguarding frameworks
Strong interactive facilitation skills, comfortable managing both physical group settings and hybrid platforms (MS Teams).
Ability to plan progressive, inclusive and engaging activity sessions.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven experience coordinating volunteers or leading group work within a third-sector organisation, charity, or community sports foundation.
Direct experience supporting individuals facing complex socio-economic barriers, mental health challenges, long-term unemployment, or intense isolation.

Pay: £28,000.00 per year
