LMD Vacuum Excavation Group is looking for motivated and experienced SHEQ Advisor to join our team. This role is based at our Head Office at Markham Vale, near Chesterfield.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHEQ professional who is looking to work with one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Vacuum Excavators to the Construction and Utilities industries.

Key Responsibilities
- Advise management and employees on SHEQ legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes whilst recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation.
- Develop, review, and update SHEQ policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Deliver SHEQ inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
- Monitor and report SHEQ performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, and training.
- Support internal and external audits, including certification audits (e.g., ISO standards).
- Promote environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste management and pollution prevention.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, contractors, and clients regarding SHEQ matters.
- Assist in emergency preparedness planning and drills.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions to ensure completion.
- Encourage a positive safety culture across all companies and departments.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional health and safety qualification such as:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate
- IOSH Managing Safely or Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
- Auditor qualification (Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor) is desirable.
- Membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a SHEQ, HSE, or Quality role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and ISO management systems.
- Experience with risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report writing and analytical abilities.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Full driving licence (if travel between sites is required).
Knowledge of Standards
Desirable knowledge of:
- Achilles/SSIP
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management
Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
