HLNSC is seeking to appoint a highly effective and enthusiastic Hourly Paid Lecturer in GCSE and Functional Skills to deliver English and maths qualifications to full-time 16–19-year-old students studying vocational programmes across the College. The role will have a particular focus on GCSE English Language. The ability to teach Functional Skills English and maths up to level 1 would be advantageous.
Teaching may also extend to apprentices and adult learners across HLNSC provision. We are looking for a dynamic and student-centred individual who can deliver high-quality teaching and learning, inspire learners to achieve their potential, and support them to progress successfully into further education, employment or training.
The successful candidate will be passionate about English and committed to developing learners’ literacy, communication and language skills. They will be able to motivate students who may have previously lacked confidence in the subject and help them achieve positive outcomes.
This is an hourly paid position, with hours offered in line with curriculum requirements and learner enrolments. A flexible approach to the role is essential, as teaching commitments may vary throughout the academic year and duties may change within the scope of the post to meet the needs of the College.
The ideal candidate will already hold a recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above, or be willing to work towards one. The College can support suitably qualified applicants without a teaching qualification to undertake a relevant teacher training programme, including the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship.
