This role matters: Do you have an interest and knowledge of pre-loved goods and enjoy working with people? Have you worked in retail previously and are you passionate about excellent customer service? Are you physically fit and able to lift, push or pull a range of donations? If so, then we’d really like to hear from you.
We are looking for a permanent Assistant Shop Manager to join our Hub teams in our Slyne Road Furniture Shop. You will provide cover in the absence of the Shop Manager, ensuring the smooth running of the shop and a high level of customer satisfaction. The role will also include occasionally providing support across our network of shops.
What makes Charity Shops unique?
Donated goods and the items bought from St John’s Shops brings much-needed income to directly fund the many Hospice services we provide. Our Shops also play an important role in supporting sustainable and environmentally friendly shopping, where shoppers choose pre-loved goods over fast fashion. Our shops are mainly staffed by kind volunteers whose time directly supports patient and family care in our local community.
What is a ‘Hub’?
We have 3 Hubs in our retail operation, and our Slyne Furniture Shop, Caton Road Shop and Kingsway Superstore receive, sort and distribute donated stock across our network of 10 shops. The hubs also manage refuse and recycling for the retail operation.
What would my role include?
You would support our Shop Manager (Hub) to maximise sales, reach shop targets and minimise costs, whilst delivering excellent customer service to our donors and customers. You will play a key role in inspiring customers to shop sustainably through excellent displays in a modern shopping environment.
Why work for St John’s Hospice Shops?
