Position: Finance Assistant
Base Location: London
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Cluster Director of Finance
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, general cashier, and general ledger functions.
- Verify, process, and record invoices, payments and journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process supplier payments and employee reimbursements according to approved procedures.
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and preparation of month-end journals.
- Prepare, maintain and file financial records, reports, and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve financial queries.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
- Ensure proper use of hotel accounting systems, property management systems (PMS), and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, PCI requirements, VAT regulations and fraud prevention procedures.
- Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Assistant Finance Manager, the Financial Controller, or Hotel Management.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is desirable; experience within the hospitality industry is an advantage.
- A finance qualification or studying towards AAT (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential; knowledge of purchasing System (BirchStreet), Opera PMS, and hotel accounting systems (SunSystem or similar) is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
- Well-developed organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
