Senior SEO Specialist | Swansea | Hybrid | £34,000 to £38,000
About AD Marketing
We are a specialist PPC and SEO agency based in Swansea. Search is all we do, and we are quite happily obsessed with it.
Our clients are UK businesses across sectors including law, tourism, ecommerce, trades and B2B. We work closely with them, give them honest advice and focus on work that makes a measurable difference.
We are currently a close-knit team with clear ambitions to grow. You will join at a stage where your work will be highly visible, your ideas will carry weight and you will have the opportunity to help shape how our SEO function develops.
The role
We are looking for an experienced SEO specialist, ideally with an agency background, to take ownership of a portfolio of clients and help develop another member of our SEO team.
You will lead the strategy, deliver the work and speak directly with your clients. There is no account handler sitting between you and the client, relaying messages or trying to interpret what either side meant.
Alongside your own portfolio, you will coach a capable SEO specialist who is ready to progress further. You will share your experience, review work together and help them strengthen their strategic thinking, technical knowledge and confidence.
This is a hands-on senior role rather than a traditional management position. You will still be in the tools and doing SEO every day, which we assume is the part you actually enjoy. You will report to our Head of Delivery.
What you will be doing
- Owning SEO strategy and delivery across your own portfolio of clients
- Carrying out technical audits, implementing fixes and monitoring ongoing site health
- Conducting keyword research, keyword mapping and content planning
- Delivering on-page optimisation and producing clear, useful content briefs
- Planning digital PR and link acquisition activity
- Monitoring performance, identifying what is and is not working, and adjusting strategy accordingly
- Reporting on results in plain English and presenting them directly to clients
- Leading regular client calls, managing day-to-day client relationships and picking up incoming calls to the office line
- Coaching another SEO specialist and helping them progress to the next level
- Reviewing work collaboratively and sharing knowledge, feedback and ideas
- Spotting opportunities and potential problems before the client needs to ask
- Keeping up with changes across search, including AI Overviews, generative search and LLM visibility
- Sharing useful developments, ideas and test results with the wider team
What we need from you
- At least three years of hands-on SEO experience, with clear evidence of independently owning strategy and delivery
- Agency experience managing multiple client accounts and competing priorities
- Confidence managing client relationships, leading your own calls and answering incoming calls on the office landline
- Strong technical SEO knowledge, including crawling, indexation, site structure, Core Web Vitals, structured data and migrations
- Confidence using GA4, Google Search Console and a major SEO platform such as Semrush or Ahrefs
- The ability to turn data into clear actions rather than simply reporting numbers
- The ability to explain why something matters to a client who does not care about the technical detail
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to take responsibility for the quality of your work
- Curiosity about where search is heading, with a habit of reading, testing and forming your own opinions
- The confidence to give honest, constructive feedback and have your own work challenged in return
Nice to have
- Experience coaching, mentoring or developing another SEO professional
- Experience working across a range of CMS platforms
- Experience supporting website migrations, redesigns or launches
Nobody arrives knowing our systems. You will receive a proper onboarding and genuine time to understand how we work, not a login and a vague instruction to get on with it.
What we offer
- 31 days of annual leave, including bank holidays. Our holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March
- Genuine flexibility. Five days a week, but you choose your hours between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday
- Hybrid working. Two days each week in our office at Urban Village on Swansea High Street, three days from home
- Up to 8 hours a month of paid time for learning and development, inside your working week rather than your evenings
- Workplace pension and an annual salary review
- A say in how the agency runs. If you think a process is inefficient or something we do is simply a bit daft, you can say so
- Room to grow. We are building the senior layer of the agency now and we would like this person to be part of it
The bit that really matters
Client portfolios here are deliberately kept at a size that allows you to do proper work. We are not going to hand you fifty accounts and hope for the best.
You will have autonomy, but you will not be left on your own. When something is not working, we sort it together. We would rather spend an hour around a whiteboard finding the right answer than have somebody quietly wrestling with a problem for a week.
