We are looking for two Building Surveyors to join Fife Housing Group. One role is within our Operations team and focuses on damp and mould. The other is within our Asset Management team and focuses on stock condition surveys and long-term investment planning.
For both roles, you will have an HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Building Services or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. A degree in Building Surveying is desirable but not essential.
You should also have experience working within a maintenance environment for a housing association or similar organisation.
Although each role has its own primary focus, the two Building Surveyors will work closely together. Their responsibilities may overlap at times and they will support one another to help deliver an excellent service to our tenants. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the following:
Both roles
- Providing proactive surveying services and identifying repairs and maintenance requirements in line with policies, procedures and service standards
- Working with residents to provide advice, support and practical solutions to help maintain their homes
- Maintaining accurate records and updating systems to support managers and wider teams
- Monitoring contractors and the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) to ensure work is completed to a high standard, within budget and achieves excellent customer satisfaction
- Preparing technical specifications and supporting procurement and project delivery from start to completion
Primary focus of the Asset Management Building Surveyor
- Carrying out stock condition surveys and assessing the age, condition and safety of building components such as roofs, kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems
- Reviewing and maintaining stock condition data to support long-term investment planning
- Working with the Asset Manager to develop short, medium and long-term investment programmes
- Assessing Net Present Value and preparing reports to support investment and asset disposal decisions
Primary focus of the Operations Building Surveyor
- Inspecting and diagnosing damp and mould issues alongside other reactive repairs, void property, service charge and estate management work
- Coding repairs in line with the Schedule of Rates and ensuring works are completed efficiently and to a high standard
A full driving licence is essential. Business travel is required and transport or access to a company vehicle will be provided.
