Job Description
We are a well-established local plumbing company looking for a reliable and motivated Water Meter Surveyor to join our team on a 12-week fixed-term contract.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the water metering sector while working outdoors in the Cambridge area. The role involves surveying domestic properties for water meter installations. If you’re a good worker who enjoys being active and working independently, this could lead to a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys of water meters at domestic residential properties
- Use an iPad/tablet to accurately record survey data, take photos, and complete digital reports
- Assess sites for accessibility, safety, and installation suitability
- Engage politely with homeowners and explain the survey process
- Work safely and professionally at all times, following company and industry guidelines
- Meet daily/weekly survey targets
- Report any issues or opportunities to the operations team
Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good with technology — confident using an iPad for data entry, apps, and digital forms (training provided)
- Reliable, hardworking, and positive attitude
- Excellent customer service skills and polite communication
- Full UK driving licence (essential – company vehicle may be provided)
- Right to work in the UK
Previous experience in plumbing, utilities, metering, or surveying is advantageous but not essential — full training will be provided for the right person.
