Vineyards Pharmacy is a new community pharmacy opening in Great Baddow. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified Dispensary Assistant to join our team and play an important role in establishing and developing our new pharmacy.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a new pharmacy from the outset and help us build a friendly, professional and patient-focused service for the local community.
Working Hours
- Monday to Saturday – shifts will include a combination of weekday and weekend working
- 38–40 hours per week
- Flexibility to work across the pharmacy's opening hours will be required
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Dispensary Assistant who is confident working in a busy community pharmacy environment.
As part of a new pharmacy team, you will support the safe and efficient running of the dispensary while providing a high standard of customer service. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the pharmacy as our patient base and range of services grow.
The duties below are not exhaustive, and additional responsibilities may be required as reasonably directed by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, process and prepare NHS and private prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Assemble prescribed medicines, including generating and applying dispensing labels
- Support the management of prescription collections and outstanding prescriptions
- Prepare monitored dosage system (MDS) trays where required
- Sell over-the-counter medicines in accordance with pharmacy procedures and protocols
- Provide appropriate information and guidance to customers regarding minor ailments and suitable pharmacy products, referring to the pharmacist when necessary
- Order, receive, store and manage medicines and pharmacy stock
- Monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate stock rotation and replenishment
- Receive incoming deliveries, check quantities against orders and identify or report discrepancies
- Liaise professionally with patients, GP practices, nursing teams and other healthcare professionals
- Respond to patient and customer enquiries in a friendly, professional and efficient manner
- Support the delivery and development of pharmacy services
- Maintain attractive, organised and appropriately stocked retail and healthcare areas
- Process customer payments accurately using the pharmacy till system
- Assist with till reconciliation and other routine administrative duties where required
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with pharmacy procedures
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and health & safety throughout the pharmacy
- Follow pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), information governance requirements and professional standards
- Complete all required mandatory training and maintain relevant competencies
- Support colleagues and contribute positively to the development of the new pharmacy
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role
About You
The successful candidate will ideally:
- Hold a recognised Dispensary Assistant qualification
- Have previous experience working within a community pharmacy
- Have good knowledge of the dispensing process and pharmacy procedures
- Be confident communicating with patients and healthcare professionals
- Have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Be organised, reliable and able to work accurately under pressure
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Be comfortable using pharmacy computer systems and technology
- Be enthusiastic about helping to establish and grow a new community pharmacy
