Sous Chefs - CDP's - Hourly rate - Negotiable hours - Tips paid in additional to hourly rate
We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious chef to join us at a traditional British inn with a clear goal: to serve the kind of food people genuinely want to eat in a pub, but executed to an award-winning standard.
I’ll be working closely with the successful candidate to develop a kitchen and menu built around British produce, seasonality and proper comfort food. The aim isn’t to reinvent pub food for the sake of it. It’s to take recognisable, much-loved dishes and make them exceptional through great ingredients, strong technique, attention to detail and consistency.
Think traditional British inn food with the standards and refinement expected of a Rosette-level kitchen.
The Role
This is a hands-on position and an important role within the business. I’m looking for someone who can work alongside me in the day-to-day running of the kitchen while also contributing ideas, experience and creativity as we develop the food offering.
You’ll be involved in:
- Helping develop seasonal menus and daily specials
- Maintaining consistently high standards across every section
- Leading services and supporting the kitchen team
- Working with quality British and local produce wherever possible
- Helping manage prep, ordering, stock, wastage and kitchen organisation
- Training and developing junior members of the brigade
- Maintaining excellent food safety and kitchen standards
- Helping us continually improve what we do
About You
You’ll ideally have experience in a quality gastropub, restaurant, hotel or Rosette-level kitchen and be comfortable working with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
More importantly, you’ll understand the style of food we want to create.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong classical cookery skills and a solid understanding of British food
- Takes pride in making things properly, from stocks and sauces through to pies, roasts and puddings
- Understands that simplicity requires excellent ingredients and precise execution
- Has the experience and confidence to lead a busy service
- Is organised, reliable and consistent
- Enjoys developing dishes and contributing ideas
- Wants to be part of building something rather than simply stepping into an existing operation
We are considering chef's of all levels and hours can be negotiable. A proportion of the service charges are paid in addition to regular hourly rate
Pay: £18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
