The University of Salford is home to one of the UK’s largest centres of teaching and research in journalism and the broader media industries.
We are recruiting a new part-time member of our academic team to join us at MediaCity, to contribute both to the delivery of our Journalism programmes and our research agenda, with a particular focus on matters of environmental sustainability.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational lecturer with a proven record of accomplishment in professional journalism practice and experience of teaching in higher education.
The successful candidate must also be an active researcher educated to doctoral level, with a track record of research activity.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching on our BJTC-accredited undergraduate programmes in Journalism
Contributing practical skills and knowledge to our teaching in specialist areas of journalism, such as data journalism, investigative reporting and/or political and campaigning journalism
Sharing expert knowledge and skills with students and staff colleagues on issues of environmental sustainability as they apply to journalism
Guiding students on the use of digital tools to research, produce and publish journalism content
Contributing to the research agenda of the School, in the context of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).
