Overview
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead our team. You’ll work closely with the General Manager to oversee the daily running of the pub, ensuring great service, smooth operations, and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
This person will play a key role in driving profitability, maintaining our authentic vibe, and expanding our community presence both in-person and online.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Operational Management
- Support the General Manager in overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and an exceptional customer experience.
- Achieve and exceed financial targets an asterisk (Target to be confirmed).
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and managing operating costs to maintain a lean cost structure.
- Control and monitor stock levels, reduce wastage, and ensure accurate cash reconciliation.
- Support in preparing monthly performance reports covering sales, expenses, and profitability.
- Take a hands-on role in identifying new revenue opportunities through events, promotions, or partnerships.
- Ensure full compliance with licensing, health, and safety regulations always.
Marketing, Social Media & Promotion
- Own and manage the bar’s social media strategy (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) — showcasing the pubs upcoming events, and daily promotions.
- Develop and execute digital campaigns aligned with the Marketing Plan, focusing on engagement, conversions, and return on investment.
- Drive measurable growth in online presence, targeting a 15% monthly increase in followers and consistent engagement above industry average (5%+).
- Collaborate with local influencers, musicians, and creatives to promote events and generate buzz.
- Implement loyalty and referral programs (“Regular’s Club”) to boost repeat visits and customer retention.
Events & Community Engagement
- Plan and deliver weekly themed events (karaoke, trivia) to grow customer base and increase off-peak sales by at least 20% within six months.
- Actively engage with the local community — sponsoring events, supporting causes, and cultivating regular patrons.
- Track event performance through sales uplift and attendance data.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, train, and motivate staff to deliver friendly, consistent, and efficient service aligned with the pubs relaxed yet professional ethos.
- Support in managing schedules, labour costs, and team performance against KPIs.
- Champion a positive, inclusive, and energetic workplace culture that promotes teamwork and accountability.
- Act as duty manager during the General Manager’s absence, ensuring standards and targets are upheld.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Daily revenue target.
- Monthly sales growth: 10–15% increase through promotions and events.
- Gross profit margin: ≥ 65%.
- Social media engagement: 15% monthly growth in followers, 5%+ engagement rate.
- Event ROI: Measurable uplift in daily takings during promotional periods.
- Customer satisfaction: 4.5★+ average on Google/Yelp and consistent positive feedback.
- Cost control: Maintain operating costs within monthly budget limits.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Previous experience as an Assistant or Duty Manager within a bar, pub, or hospitality venue.
- Strong understanding of financial management — including budgeting, reporting, and achieving targets.
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Desirable:Proven experience in social media management and digital marketing.
- Experience running events and promotional campaigns.
- Creative mindset with a passion for branding and customer engagement.
