We are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive Handyman to join a well-established hospice in Taunton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong maintenance background who takes pride in providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Working as part of the facilities team, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks across the site, ensuring the hospice remains in excellent condition. The role is customer-facing, so a professional and friendly approach is essential.
Duties Will Include:
- Carrying out general maintenance and repair work across the hospice
- Basic painting, decorating, and building repairs
- Minor plumbing, carpentry, and maintenance tasks
- Conducting routine inspections of the building and reporting defects
- Ensuring all work areas are safe, tidy, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Liaising with staff, patients, and visitors in a professional and respectful manner
- Escalating and reporting larger maintenance issues to managers and specialist contractors where required
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Handyman, Maintenance Operative, or similar role
- Good all-round maintenance and repair skills
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- A valid Enhanced DBS check is required, or willingness to obtain one
