Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Captain to oversee Oil Barge Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient navigation, operation, and management of an oil barge, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards. Duties
- Command and navigate an oil barge during loading, transit, and discharge operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Supervise crew members, providing leadership and guidance to maintain operational efficiency.
- Conduct pre-departure safety checks and ensure all equipment is in optimal condition before voyages.
- Coordinate with port authorities, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless operations.
- Monitor weather conditions and maritime traffic to plan safe routes and avoid hazards.
- Maintain detailed logs of voyages, cargo movements, and operational activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all maritime safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Oversee emergency procedures and respond promptly to any incidents or operational issues that arise during shifts.
Requirements
- Valid UK Maritime Deck Officer Certification with a recognised endorsement for commanding oil tankers or barges.
- Proven experience in maritime navigation and oil barge operations, preferably within the offshore or inland waterways sectors.
- Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations, environmental policies, and cargo handling procedures.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse crew effectively.
- Ability to make quick decisions under pressure while maintaining a focus on safety and operational integrity.
- Good communication skills for liaising with port authorities, clients, and team members.
- Physical fitness suitable for demanding maritime environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including overnight shifts when required. Pay: £250.00-£350.00 per day
Licence/Certification:
- BML T1 L2 or Master 500 with Oil Cargo Endorsement (required)
- A valid ML5 Medical or ENG 1 (required)
- Valid STWC certificates (inc. all mandatory safety training) (required)
