Shop Assistant – Tamar View Pet Shop
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our small independent pet supplies shop.
We specialise in a wide range of pet food and supplies for dogs, cats, small animals, and indoor and outdoor birds. Our products include food, treats, beds, toys, accessories and other pet essentials. We do not sell live animals.
The role
As a Shop Assistant, you will help provide excellent customer service and keep our shop welcoming, well stocked and organised. Your duties will include:
- Serving and assisting customers
- Operating the till, handling payments and consolidating end of day totals
- Helping customers find suitable pet food and supplies
- Stocking shelves and checking stock levels
- Weighing up a variety of seeds / feeds
- Receiving and putting away deliveries
- Keeping the shop clean, tidy and well presented
- Pricing and displaying products
- Carrying out other general shop duties as required
- Working as part of a small, friendly team
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and enjoys helping customers
- Reliable, trustworthy and punctual
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
- Organised and able to take initiative
- Interested in pets and pet care
- Able to provide helpful and friendly customer service
- Comfortable with some physical work, including lifting and moving deliveries and stock
Previous retail or customer service experience would be helpful, but is not essential as training can be provided.

Job Type: Part-time / Full-time between 25-37.5h - required on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday
Pay: National Minimum Wage applicable to age, up to £13.00 per hour.
