Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Gardener and Gritter Operator to maintain and enhance our outdoor landscapes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, experience with landscape maintenance, and the ability to operate gritting equipment during winter months. This role offers an opportunity to work outdoors across all seasons, contributing to the aesthetic appeal and safety of our grounds. The position involves hands-on gardening tasks as well as operational duties related to gritter machinery, ensuring safe and efficient winter road and pathway maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform general gardening duties including planting, pruning, weeding, and lawn care using hand tools and power tools
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns
- Operate gritter machinery during winter conditions to ensure pathways and roads are safe for pedestrians and vehicles
- Conduct landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, mulching, and fertilising
- Use gardening equipment responsibly, adhering to safety protocols
- Assist with seasonal planting and landscape design projects as required
- Monitor plant health and report any issues or pests promptly
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of gardening tools and equipment
Experience
- Proven experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance is preferred
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems is desirable
- Growing experience or knowledge of plant care is advantageous
- Previous operation of gritter machinery or similar equipment is a plus but not essential
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to landscaping and machinery operation is essential
