Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a background in care . This role is essential for enhancing the quality of life for our residents, especially those living with dementia, by organising engaging activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and physical exercises.
- Coordinate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive abilities.
- Foster a warm and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation and socialisation.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to gather feedback on activities and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and assess the effectiveness of programmes regularly using our electronic system.
- Collaborate with external organisations or volunteers to enhance the variety of activities offered.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations within the care home setting.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a care home is highly desirable.
- Understanding of dementia care principles and the ability to engage effectively with individuals experiencing cognitive decline.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact positively with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative in planning and executing activities.
- A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful engagement and care.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on resident feedback or changing circumstances within the care home.
