Rest Up, a 650-bed hostel, is housed in Driscoll House that has operated as a hostel since 1913. As a Team Member at Rest Up Hostel, you will be at the heart of creating an exceptional experience for our guests.
Position Overview:
The Night Manager role in Rest Up is critical as you will be responsible for overseeing hostel operations at its busiest – a time when all our guests come back from their adventures, ready to refuel, mingle, make life-long connections and rest. Your role will be to enable this by ensuring the highest level of hospitality with Health and Safety in mind. The history of Driscoll House is integral to who we are and, as part of our team, you will help tell the stories and make our visitors feel part of that legacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the hostel’s night operations ensuring all areas are guest ready, secure and safe.
- Be the first point of contact for guests during the night shift by hosting generously, responding to requests and creating an environment where our guests feel well looked after.
- Provide leadership and role modelling to night shift team members, ensuring they host effectively too.
- Handle check-ins and check-outs, ensuring efficient and smooth processes, in particular for group check-ins.
- Manage and resolve any guest issues or complaints professionally and hospitably.
- Monitor and maintain hostel health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of public areas, ensuring high standards are met at all times.
- Complete necessary night audit functions, reports and logs to maintain a clear record of activities.
What We’re Looking For:
· Experience in Hospitality: Proven experience as a Night Manager or similar role in the hospitality industry.
· Positive Attitude: A bright, welcoming personality that thrives in a social, guest-facing environment. We’re looking for someone who enjoys interacting with people and can bring good energy to every shift.
· Flexibility: Ability to work 12 hours night shifts, 4-3 days, Monday - Sunday
· Health and Safety: Trained in FLS procedures and safe working methods.
· Proactive & Solution-Oriented: The ability to anticipate guest needs, solve problems quickly, and keep things running smoothly, even when the hostel is busy.
· Great Multitasker: Ability to juggle multiple tasks while maintaining focus on guest experience and the needs of the hostel.
