This is a place where your work really matters.
Every conversation, every visit, every decision you make can change a child’s life.
In Swindon, we don’t lose sight of that.
Why Swindon
We’re building something better here for the children who need us.
Our focus is simple. Support families earlier, work together properly, and keep children safe without losing connection to the people who matter to them.
Through our Family Safeguarding model and wider transformation work, we’re reducing the need for children to come into care and strengthening support in the community.
The role
You’ll be part of a supportive Assessment and Child Protection team, working with children and families at the point where it matters most.
Your work will include:
- Carrying out statutory assessments and child protection enquiries
- Building relationships with children, families and partners
- Creating clear, effective plans that make a real difference
- Supporting families to create safer, more stable futures
- You’ll work in a pod structure, with strong team support and shared responsibility during duty weeks.
What makes this different
We know social work is demanding. So we’ve focused on getting the basics right.
- Manageable caseloads
- Monthly reflective supervision
- A genuinely supportive team culture
- Clear pathways for progression
- This is a place where you can do good work and keep developing.
What you’ll bring
- A social work qualification and Social Work England registration
- A strong, child-centred approach
- The ability to build trust with families in difficult situations
- Confidence in assessment, planning and decision-making
- You don’t have to be perfect. But you do need to care, be curious, and want to keep improving.
Development
Our Social Work & Leadership Academy supports you at every stage of your career, from ASYE through to advanced practice and leadership.
We invest in your growth because better supported social workers deliver better outcomes for children.
If you’re looking for a place where your work is valued, your development matters, and children are genuinely at the heart of everything we do, Swindon could be the right next step.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
Your next package
- Relocation allowance of up to £8,000 (eligibility criteria applies)
- Competitive salaries
- Free car parking at our central Swindon campus and easy commuter links to many locations
