School Cleaner (Part-Time) – Term Time Only

Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented School Cleaner to join our team, working at a local school in Hilperton, Trowbridge.
This is a permanent role based on 39 working weeks per year.
The role is primarily term time only and includes an annual summer deep clean during the school holidays.
You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout your designated areas of the school.
Primary duties will include cleaning classrooms and washrooms, vacuuming and mopping floors, cleaning classroom sinks and sanitary facilities, wiping internal glass and high-touch surfaces, emptying bins, replenishing consumables such as hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper, and maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness throughout your designated areas of the school.
You will work independently within your designated area of the school, so we are looking for someone who is reliable, self-motivated and able to manage their own workload while maintaining excellent cleaning standards. Full training and ongoing support will be provided by the Clay & Co. Facilities Group management team.
As this role is carried out within a live school environment, you will regularly interact with teaching staff and other authorised personnel. A friendly, professional and respectful approach is expected at all times.

Key Responsibilities
- Clean designated areas of the school, including classrooms, corridors, offices and washrooms.
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors.
- Clean classroom sinks, washrooms, toilets and other sanitary facilities.
- Clean and disinfect touchpoints, desks, furniture and other surfaces.
- Wipe internal glass and remove marks where required.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Replenish consumables, including hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is used safely and stored correctly.
- Follow company policies and health and safety procedures at all times.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage or health and safety concerns to your supervisor.
Working Hours
- 10 contracted hours per week.
- 39 working weeks per year (primarily term time only).
- The annual summer deep clean is carried out during the school holidays. Dates and working hours for the 2027 summer deep clean will be confirmed in advance.
Pay
- £12.85 per hour.
- Permanent contract based on 39 working weeks per year.
- Pay is based on your contracted hours over 39 working weeks per year and is calculated on a pro rata basis.
