As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life. You will assist clients with personal care, medication support, meal preparation, mobility, companionship, and light household duties, following individual care plans and organisational policies.
You will be responsible for monitoring clients' wellbeing, maintaining accurate care records, and reporting any changes or concerns to your supervisor. The role requires compassion, reliability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, respectful, and professional care. Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends, is essential, and a full driving licence with access to a vehicle may be required depending on the role.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Support with medication administration following prescribed guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Manage behaviour effectively and compassionately, especially in cases of dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Provide transportation for appointments or outings as needed, ensuring safe driving practices
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and any changes in client condition
- Respond promptly to emergencies with appropriate first aid procedures
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment
- Support families and loved ones by providing updates and reassurance during caregiving routines
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care environments is desirable
- Knowledge of patient care techniques, including dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, and behaviour management strategies
- Certification or training in first aid is advantageous
- Valid driving licence for transportation duties is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and their families
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when required and assist with mobility support
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others
- Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, or evenings as needed
