Job Description:
The Rye Bakery is an independent family-owned bakery established in 1989. We operate cafés in Bexhill-on-Sea, Hawkhurst and Ore as well as a bakery and wholesale bread business in Peasmarsh, Near Rye.
The Role:
We are a high-volume bakery producing thousands of fresh bread rolls, loaves, and our renowned fresh doughnuts each week for our busy stores and wholesale customers. We are currently seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and flexible individual to join our team as a Bakery Assistant.
This is a hands-on, physical role that requires energy, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. You will be trained to produce and bake our famous bread and rolls using large industrial ovens and will assist with general bakery production duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation, baking, and packaging of bread, rolls, doughnuts and buns.
- Operating industrial ovens and bakery equipment (full training provided)
- Following all food safety and hygiene procedures
- Keeping the bakery clean, tidy, and organised during and after each shift
- Working as part of a fast-paced, supportive team
- Covering additional shifts as required for holiday or sickness cover
Working Hours:
- Sunday to Friday with a day off in the week
- Shifts run from 5pm to 2am but can vary depending on what duties you are on.
- Flexibility required for additional hours when needed
